How to join UnstableSMP

The flow is deliberately simple. If it fails, check the status panel and Discord announcements before changing random network settings.

  1. Copy play.unstablesmp.gg. Use the button at the top of this page or copy the hostname manually.
  2. Add the server. Open Multiplayer, choose Add Server, and paste the address into the server address field.
  3. Join and read the welcome info. Connect, check the spawn information, and review the community guidelines posted in the official Discord before building.

Need edition-specific screenshots and port details? Read the complete how to join UnstableSMP guide. If Minecraft shows an error, use the connection troubleshooting checklist.

IP address details

The UnstableSMP server IP, explained

The details that answer most connection questions before they reach the support channel.

One address for both editions. No numeric IP to hunt for, no launcher tricks required.

The UnstableSMP IP is play.unstablesmp.gg, and it is the only address this website lists for the public server. Type it exactly, with no spaces and no web prefix. Java Edition connects on the default port, so leave the port field alone. Bedrock uses the same hostname with port 19132 unless Discord announces a change.

Hostnames beat numeric IPs. The address keeps working even if the machine behind it changes, which is why server lists that share raw numbers go stale. If the address will not resolve, check the live status panel above and the Discord announcements before touching your network settings.

You need a legitimate Minecraft account. Cracked and offline-mode launchers are not supported. Any recent Java release from 1.21 upward works; when the server is online, the status panel shows the exact version it reports.

Joining the public server is not joining the series. The Unstable Universe episodes are recorded on private production servers. Fan appearances in the series happen through the official Discord, while the public server is the community world you can enter today.
