Java Edition connection steps
- Open a compatible version of Minecraft: Java Edition and select Multiplayer.
- Select Add Server. Use “UnstableSMP” as the name and play.unstablesmp.gg as the address.
- Save the entry, select it from the server list, and choose Join Server.
- Read the welcome information and server rules before moving items or building.
Which Java version should you use?
Java 1.21 or newer is the current target in the published server brief. The exact version can change when Minecraft updates or server plugins need compatibility work.
Check the live status on the Play page. When the server responds, its reported version appears there. Discord announcements are the final source for scheduled version changes.
What if the server shows offline?
First confirm that the hostname is exactly play.unstablesmp.gg. Do not add spaces, a protocol such as https, or a web page path. Then check the live status and maintenance announcements.
If the public status reports offline, repeatedly changing your local firewall is unlikely to help. Wait for an official update. If the status reports online but your client cannot connect, confirm your game version, restart the launcher, and include the exact error when asking for support.
